Why begin therapy?

Sometimes in life, we come into periods of feeling mystified and need help sorting out the confusion we feel. There could also be long-standing psychological problems you need to address to further life’s goals. Anxiety, trauma, depression, and life transitions like divorce may need healing. Often we seek the counsel of a therapist to pursue our personal growth and exploration. Therapy is right for you if you are interested in taking responsibility, choosing to create increased self-awareness, and taking action toward change in your life.

What can I expect of therapy?

In therapy with Windy, you can expect to be treated with respect, compassion, and understanding. Therapy is short or long-term depending on your needs and goals.

Generally, a session consists of 60-75 minutes once a week. For therapy to be most effective you will need to be an active participant in the session and during the week in between.

Session fee. I am strictly Private Pay. The session fee is $150.

If your insurance qualifies for Out of Network Benefits you may be eligible for a portion of your session fee to be reimbursed by your insurance. In this case, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company.

If you have a Health Savings Account that can be used to cover your session cost.

Confidentiality

For the most part, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client.

There are some exceptions required by law to this rule. The exceptions are as follows:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. A therapist is required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.

  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.

  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure her/his safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.
